Below you will see our our photos of Dec events !
1] Pilar and Carlos were married after a 11 month engagement and plenty of scurtinity from Pastor KIKI,Beti,and Lisa and I .. We watched and prayed as this couple trurned to the LORD in their relationship and then tied the knot with Carlos' dad Pastor KIKI marrying them on Dec.4th 2009 2&3]Then on the 5th of Dec CDP held our Christmas Party and wants to say thank you for all the gifts and the love shown to our moms and children. 4$5]Then on Dec 6th Lisa turned 50 and we had a suprise birthday party with all the family at the Rancho Refresco near San Vicente. That is not all then towards the end of the month we had a christmas gift bags that were taken to Las Brisas and the children were so very happy (missing photos of this event! blog later oh well all was wonderful and a blessing to all!!!!!!!!
Thank you each and everyone of you who help of your time, prayers, and resourses . We love you ! You know who you are !!!!! More importantly Jesus knows who you are !!!

The time has passed so fast and I can not believe that it is 2010.!! Can you ? I have no idea who even reads this but I want to be in touch with EVERYONE to share the wonderful things that is happening here in Mexico! The Lord is so good to us here in Mexico at Casa Del PAstor . We have 15 moms and 96 children who we feed 3 x a day and 7 days a week and we have never been hungry . It has been a blessing seeing the LORD provide every single day!!. And that is a wonderful thing!! As many go hungry and do not have a roof over their heads. Plus everyone has blankets and clothes . It amazes me that I have been blessed to be a part of this ministry and it is an honor to use what the LORD gives me to help these families . IT is all from the LORD ALMIGTHY anyway, HUH?

This past week has been a blur and as you can see it was worth it. It is a celelbration of Purity and Dedication to OUR LORD by haveing a fiesta to deiedcate our precious girls to the LORD, kind of like acoming out party but the teen dedicates her self to being a light for JESUS and saving her self for HIM only untill the day her husband marries her .

tHIS WAS A TOTAL BLESSING BECASUE THE MOM CAME FROM AHORRID PAST AND NOW GETS TO SEE HER PRECIOUS CHILD IN THE THINGS OF THE LORD.

NOTE FROM JEANIE SUE .......Today has been an active day in the CASA DEL PASTOR.... we started with devotions in the dining area with 8 moms. Nati, the supervisior of CDP was sharing great points wisdom of II Cronicals 11 and it was deep and a powerful message for the moms. She is a wise woman and she is full of love and patience reguarding each mom. THEN as we cleared the kitchen the breakfast bell rang and the children loudly got in line after washing their hands and face for the morning . Children from all age groups are perparing for school and 25 of the children for school have already been taken to school and the third trip to take school kids will be at 8:30am . The childcare worker has supervised the dining hall of rambunctious children and now has called the school age children to the homework table and the other child care worker had called the toddlers to form a line to go to the club where they will spend their day with activiities and play groups and the reading circle . IT seems chaotic but it is all in order and can get really active and alot of movement but it is home to me ..

I have been in the east of the states visiting a few brothers and sisters in the LORD. Lisa and I went to visit a church that has been very involved in putting in the foundations of the homes of the moms who buy property here in San Vicente . The time back east was a time of refreshment to fellowship with the team members that have come to San Vicente. We had an opportunity to speak to the body of Calvary Chapel Esmerelda Coast . They have been the main foundation layers since we started to see moms buy their lots locally. SINCE Lisas mom was local she stayed there and visited with her mom for a few days and I had the opportunity to go to Illinois and visit my family members . I have not gone back to Illinois since my father passed away . I felt it was time to see my family again and I was totally glad that I did and it was a family reunion. Each time I spoke about the LORD they really listened and I was totally impacted on how interested they were about things of the LORD .. My cousin even agreed to go to a Creation Museum in Ky. with me. However ,noone made decisions but it will come in the LORDs timing..

I am so amazed that the time has gone so fast and the last entry has been so long ago . So much has happened since then ., Right now we have 13 moms that live in CDP and *4 of them have purchased property, and 9 moms who have their own homes ...with all these we have about 90 cdp kids and totall of 105 children **(including the childcare children) *this includes our children that live with Lisa and I .

We have a full youth group and I have meetings each week with our 15 teens .. plus the once a week girls group that I have meeting in my home . Capilla Calvario de San Vicente keeps us real busy and we have acivities and or prayer meetings almost every evening. Plus the groups are beginning to come and they have many plans for us at CDP.

So as you can see I do have a full plate but It is a awesome life and I love being here in Mexico serving the LORD. It is a peasure to be sharing the LORD with the folks of Mexico and I want to thank each one of you who make it possible. thanks to the LORD and you too.

UPDATE >>>>How I got 10 children to care for ..in 2009

One mom Marilu was with us for 6 years and she turned out to be abusive to her own children physically and emotionally. How ever, she also became very obsessed with her boyfriend and chose to go with him and he did not want to care for 5 extra children Juan age 16,Reyna age 15 Fransico age 14 Isabel age 13 and Ceclia age 9. She comes at least once a month to see them. The youngest was born here and knows no other home

Then the other mom is Adia. She and I have remained in contact after she was asked to leave several years ago and her children were with her all of 2007 to 2008 school year. They are two teens Itzel age 15 and Angel age 14 and a young boy Jesus who is 10. All of the children did not like living in the big city because of all it had to offer. They really were being called to make some hard difficult choices and really wanted to return to my home this last school year. They had some difficult times with their mom and had been thrown out of the house a few times. I was really between a rock and a hard place wondering if I should go to Ensenada to rescue them or what. I did end up going and doing crises intervention with the mom and teens and they finished the school year with their mom. .

After that I offered the mom the placement in my home as an alternative to another turbulous and abusive school year and she jumped at the chance to have her children with me. She is an immature woman and can not get over her feelings enough to discipline the children giving them tough love but boundaries to live within the home.

Then there are two other teens with me . These two are really smart kids but the moms are weak and want to please the children. They do not give boundaries to Omar age 15 ,and Anayeli age 14 for fear of being not liked for a while. |Both of these teens have had some difficult things in the home and both moms have a hard time saying no. So both asked me to help and I do not have a problem with the word no.

Another mom, Rosa, left her two boys age 15 Eloy and Alberto age 17 to go to another man. in 2003. They lived with me for 4 years they are no longer with me. But they live in a boys home near the Casa Del Pastor and are involved in Calvary Chapel San Vicente Horizonte, .They are doing well under the supervision of Mike and he is the director of Casa Josue.

I really am loving being a mom and HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY THESE CHILDREN !!!

So keep me in prayer and lift us up to the LORD as we will need it as this is the crazy teen house.

THESE ARE TWO NEW FAMILIES ON THE RIGHT IS CATALINA . SHE ARRIVED TO US IN A SAD STATE. SHE WAS BEAT UP AND HAD BRUISES ALL OVER HER BODY AND FACE . SHE IS A SWEET WOMAN AND SEEKS TO HEAL HER WOUNDS AND MOVE FORWARD IN HER LIFE. PLEASE PRAY FOR HER BECAUSE I HEAR THAT HER MAN IS LOOKING FOR HER BUT HAS NOT SHOWN HIS FACE AT THE CASA.

ON THE LEFT IS MARIA OF CARLOS . SHE HAS BEEN HERE A WHILE AND SOME OF YOU KNOW HER CHILDREN, CARLOS AND HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS. I WAS CARING FOR THEM FOR FIVE MONTHES WHILE SHE WENT TO HER STATE TO SEE IF SHE WAS REGISTERED. SHE FOUND OUT THAT SHE IS NOT. PRAY FOR HER AND HER PAPAER WORK TO BE DONE AS QUICKLY AND AS EASLIE AS POSSIBLE.

We are in Phase II and have some growing pains. The whole atmosphere is different and very challenging. It is difficult for me to be gracious and kind when I see any behavior that might damage the grounds and the mom siting near buy and doing nothing. Sometimes moms are so passive and unaware of the comings and goings of their children. It is really an opportunity to educate and teach the moms how to deal lovingly and kindly towards their children. Please pray for the many changes in the near future. We are planning a meeting with moms and go over the expectations and the areas where we need to work on. Please pray for them to seek the Lord and do HIS will It is HIS house and we want to take care of it.

We have a few new moms and one in particular who has been severely physically abused, Catalina. She still lives in terror and is very upset and she has seen him twice and feels he is trying to get her back . He is not the father of her two children and she wants to begin a new life. It seems he is very persistent and sly because no one else has caught him trying to seek her out yet . He is not coming to the door nor coming near CdP when someone else is present. I ask for your prayers for protection all this just happened this afternoon so I am trusting it will all come to light soon.

The grand opening of Casa Del Pastor, June 21 was a beautiful day that many of us had waited for. It has been a labor of love along the side of Dave, Lisa and Jeanie. The property’s construction finally come to an end of its chapter.

Everyone has done a great job in their obedience to the Lord supporting the ladies of the facility. In the heart of our church has been the desired to support this ministry and now be witness of this special day. It was perfect, God gave us a nice sunny day, Pastors came to share, musicians played worship to praise our Lord, and great feast to enjoy!. A large crowd people witness what God is doing in this place. What a perfect day to see God’s love and the presence of His work in CSPS.

After was all said and done, dark and late, few of us stayed to accompany Raul a husband of one of the ladies, he has been there for several years. They now have their own home. Raul share that they had separated for few months and she ended at CdP. After time they got back together and he thanks God that his children and wife ended up here. Because of these events they have learned about a personal relationship with Jesus. He is very grateful. He is the handy men in the facility. I asked him, how would you like us to pray for this place? Raul Replied; "I see in their eyes hate towards men when they arrive. Pray for God to heal and open their hearts and be willing to have a teachable heart and absorb everything they learn of the Lord."

Brethren, God is working at Casa Del Pastor…!!! Pray for everyone that volunteers and also for the women will want to be God’s vessels and allow Jesus to mold them in their character.

THINGS CHANGES AND TIME PASSES..... WE HAD THE GRAND OPENING!

I can not believe that it has been since MArch 2008 that I have added news to my blog. We are moving into the new phase this month *(July) and the rooms are beautiful,. My first concern is with the hearts of the moms. We have a variety of personalities that are very hardened buy their past experiences and heartaches. Most of all I ask for prayers for the moms who are struggling with thier own ideas of how we (Lisa and I ) handle situtations. The LORD is the Head of the house and I praise the LORD for HIS direction and wisdom, PLEASE LIFT US UP TO ASSIST THESE WOMEN TO KNOW HIM BETTER .

UPDATE FOR THE CHILDREN THAT WERE IN MY HOME
I am happy to say that Maria came back . She is pregnate and says it is the same father and is ready to have it any time . HER CHILDREN FOUR ARE VERY HAPPY AND SHE IS too.
I have talked to ANOTHER MOM WHO HAS KNOWN MARIA FOR A LONG TIME AND THEY WAY THE CHILDREN WERE TREATED IN THE EJIDO AND SHE SAYS THAT MARIA WAS ALWAYS WITH HER CHILDREN AND SEEMED LOVING TOWARD THEM BUT AT THE SAME TIME SEEMED VERY DEPRESSED AND THAT AFFECTED THE CHILDREN
SO ANYWAY BACK TO THE PRESENT THE CHILDREN ARE VERY HAPPY AND SHE BROUGHT STUFF FOR THEM FROM HER TRIP AND BOY HOWDY AM I GLAD THAT SHE RETURNED! PRAISE THE LIVING GOD
PLEASE PRAY FOR HER AND THE BABY AND HER FIVE CHILDREN . THE TRIP TO GET HER PAPER WORK WAS UNSUCCESSFUL . NEITHER SHE OR HER CHILDREN EXIST ( AS FAR A BEING REGISTERED WITH BIRTH CERTIFICATES) PRAY FOR THIS SITUATION MOMS NOT BEING REGISTERED AND THEN THEIR CHILDREN HAVE NO BIRTH CERTIFICATE EITHER . IT IS A BIG PROBLEM HERE IN MEXICO .

Lets see if I can tell you a bit of what is going on in CASA DEL PASTOR San Vicente .Mx,
So far the year started out at a run but first... last year a mom left to go to her state of Chiwahah here in Mexico (that is below Texas) to get her birth certificate that she has never had , she is about 30 year old. SHE has five children she asked me to care for the four of her children while she is away . Well as few months later the pastor that was of missionary that helped her coem to us showed up he knew her but not too well however he said that she was gone for good. That was a suprise for me I now have four beautiful children that I will be rasing untill further notice I WILL REMAIN FAITHFUL TO THE PROMISE I MADE TO HER TO CARE FOR THE CHILDREN AND KEEP THEM TOGETHER
WE recieved a 12 year old mom WITH A 8 MONTH OLD BABY that was at the point of getting her child taken from her . She was living in a three sided shack that had no roof. SHE was located in LAS Cabos which is at the tip of Baja and the authorities called me . IT is hurricane season and the mom would not leave the shack and wanted to care for her baby . She is a good mom but so young She is a dolly !! They told heR that she had to enter our shelter home or she would loose her child , she complied. SHE told me she likes it here.
Next we had a retreat in Jan and I fell on my right foot . I pulled a tendon and it is killing me I keep trying to say I am not going to walk on it but my kids do not allow me to remain still .
then we had two big parties for the 15 year olds which is a very important event in the life of young girls. We use it for a purity celebrtaion And then we had a few moms having babies this last two months that is always a blessing to see life begin and to know it is our Creator that made it possible well that is all for now

Her biggest desire was to ride in a limo , imagine that (to ride in a limo is something I never imagined ni wanted to do but she did) The Lord did know and HE gave her a very generous Padrino who blessed her with 4 hours of passing around the big city of Ensendad. Her other madrinas gave her dinner and a night in a hotel so she invited all her girlfreinds and they had a blast .
She has her big celebration the first week of Dec 2007 and I ask for those that read this to lift her up in prayer that heart and her mind to be set on JESUS and to follow HIM closely

MOMS WHO ARE HERE AT CASA DEL PASTOR ARE USUALLY UNEDUCATED AND HAVE PROBLEMS ATTENDING SCHOOL . WE HAVE OFFERED TO HELP MOMS TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES AND FINISH THEIR SCHOOLING. SOME EVEN HAVE TO FINISH THEIR PRIMARY EDUCATION AND MOST VERY SELDOM FINISH. A FEW YEARS AGO ONE MOM EXPRESSED THE DESIRE TO FINISH HER SCHOOLING AND SHE IS STILL GOING STRONG . SINCE SHE ARRIVED SHE WORKED VERY HARD BOUGHT HER PROPERTY AND WAS GIVEN A HOUSE. SHE MADE IT A HOME AND ALL THE WHILE SHE WAS STUDYING HER PRIMARY AND THEN HER JR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOLING AND NOW SHE IS IN THE UNIVERSITY IN ENSENADA (PILAR IS ON THE LEFT) PRAY FOR PILAR WHO IS TAKING FOUR TESTS THIS WEEK
SHE IS A WONDERFUL SERVANT OF THE LORD , MOM AND STUDENT. EVERYTHING SHE DOES SHE DOES WITH ALL HER HEART.

Directions to ensenada then to San Vicente

Driving Directions to Ensenada

South on Highway 5 or 805 to the San Ysidro Border Crossing.

After crossing the border, stay in the second lane from the right until you pass the the first off ramp to Tijuana, then get in the far right lane. Follow the signs that say "Rosarito Beach, Ensenada Scenic Route". This road will take you along the Mexico/U.S. border (as you start up the hill you can to see San Diego to your right).

When you come down the big hill, take the first off ramp on the right ,("Rosarito Beach, Ensenada Scenic Route") then get in the left lane. You will pass an off-ramp saying "Tijuana Playas" on the right. Staying to the left will put you on the toll road. Tolls are 26 pesos / $2.50 Dlls ea. (at the time of this writing)There are three tollbooths in total. The first tollbooth is just past the TJ Playas off ramp. Second is about 15 miles south just passing the last Rosarito Beach off-ramp. The third and end of the toll-road is at San Miguel.After you pass the last tollbooth it's about six miles to Ensenada proper. About one mile before you get there you'll come to a fork in the road, stay to the "right" and this will take you in the front end of town. At the first signal, you will be on Boulevard Costero. The drive is about 1 1/2 hours once you cross the border.The toll road includes towing as part of your price of admission as well as bathrooms, and stores at each stop. Take is easy and don't be in a rush. You're in Baja now so be mellow. Remember they have speed limits in Mexico and they're in kilometers, not miles!as you get into Ensenada stay to your left and south and along the ocean you will follow the signs for Labufadora/then to San Quintin..As you will leave the city and continue for another hour and half on a two lane highway after Santo Tomas town/ Winery area San Vicente is the next town afterAs you enter the small town of San Vicente after the stop light look on your right for a tire shop a called Gueros it is dirty orange and has a big tire in on the roof turn there go one block turn left and go 1/2 block Casa Del Pastor is on your left you can see it is it as picture in last post have funn CU SOON

We pray that the moms who come into the Casa Del Pastor are blessed by HIS loving touch . The new president of Mexico has a campain against violence against women and we are recieving calls each day for women seeking shelter and refuge. This week we recieved two new moms Julie is 20 years old and has 5 children . Her man is a drug adict and she fled in fear of her life . The other mom Lupe just had two week old and her father was trying to get her to be his wife as his wife had just passed away. She seeks to have another life apart from many evil things .Pray for these
moms to adjust and to seek the LORD and get to know him.
The Home is located 3 1/2 hours south of San Diego in the peninsula of Baja California Mexico in the small town of San Vicnete Ferre. We have 24 hour service to moms and their children to live in a peaceful and tranqil setting. The LORD provides food and lodging for them and cares for their basic needs to allow them to heal and go forth to work and start a new life for them and their children .

Last year we lost the lease on the building we were using as our church. As always the Lord has shown His faithfulness. This picture is of our new building that is currently under construction. Planned completion of Calvary Chapel San Vicente is scheduled for this summer. Please continue to pray for the completion of the building as well as growth among the body of believers here in beautiful San Vicente.

Chris Amaro brought his family down last month and here his son Elias is bonding with on of our children by the name of Angel. Nothing brings boys together like a video game.

How I got 10 children to care for ..

One mom Marilu was with us for 6 years and she turned out to be abusive to her own children physically and emotionally. How ever, she also became very obsessed with her boyfriend and choose to go with him and he did not want to care for 5 extra children She comes at least once a month to see them. The youngest was born here and knows no other home…
The another mom, Rosa, left her two boys age 13 and 14 to go to another man . They were here at the CASA for three years and we do not allow boyfriends. The mom decided that going to be with this man was more important than her boys so she abandoned them with us. After two weeks we put the word out that if the mom did not make contact with us we had to call the officials. Finally after a week she shows up and took her boys, without talking to us and took them to a lady in town to leave them with this lady so that they could remain in school for the remainder of the school year 2004 – 2005. After a few weeks we would see them out on the street and asked them what they were doing .. As it turned out the lady would get them up and lock them out with their uniform on and ready for school at 6 am in the morning so they had no where to go until school and no food to eat until 5pm that night ( school is from 1 to 5 every day) . So I invited them to eat with us and to ask their mom to come to talk to me again . She did not visit them for three weeks also she had no idea the lady was doing this but she was not very concerned because she was too involved with the guy. They asked if I would except them so they could go to school and to live with me . I agreed with the mom’s permission.
Then the third mom is Adia. She is a mom who is thick sculled and very proud and was breaking the rules with a man and we asked her to leave too but that was two years ago. We have remained in contact. Her children have come to visit and to see us for several vacations. She has hit hard times and due to her choices of singing in night clubs and no stable jobs she got kicked out of her home and was living in friends’ homes and then got sick and could not work and now has no home and no job. Her children were not in school because she could not afford the bus or supplies. She asked if I could keep them until she got a job and a home to keep them again. I agreed that she had to come to visit and that she had get a report to me of what she is doing! So pray for that one because she is very evasive and stubborn and prideful ( deceitful is a better word  )

"HOUSE OF THE SHEPHERD" PROVIDES A LOVING SANCTUARY FOR ABUSED MEXICAN WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN IN A REMOTE AREA OF BAJA CALIFORNIA
Two single American women are devoting their lives to bring hope to those who have lost hope

SAN VICENTE, MEXICO (ANS) - Lisa Heit and Jeanie Sue Phegley, who goes by the name of Juanita in Mexico, are single American Christian women who are devoting their lives to bringing hope to abused Mexican mothers and their children.

And it can be a dangerous task. They have faced an angry husband with a gun; another with a machete and even men who have threatened to burn down the Casa Del Pastor (House of the Shepherd) in the town of San Vicente, Baja California, Mexico.

But Lisa (42) and Jeanie (43), along with other volunteers, have not let these threats deter them from their God-given ministry that has brought the chance of a new life in Christ to women and children who have lost hope. Currently, they care caring for 11 mothers and 49 children in the ten dorms.

I met these extraordinary women recently at the Festival de Vida (Festival of Life) in Queretaro, Mexico, which was led by Pastor Mike MacIntosh, senior pastor of Horizon Christian Fellowship of San Diego, California. They had taken some time off from their duties to be part of the team of 324 Christians from the US, and 1500 Mexican believers from all over the country, who brought the message of God's love to the people of this city of 1.2 million.

Lisa explained how she got the burden for the abused mothers and children in Mexico. "I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and my father died when I was just 10 months old," she said. "My mom had a nervous breakdown and had to abandon his us children and we ere put with other aunts and uncles who could take care of us and at the age of 8 years old, we were taking from our aunts and uncles and separated as brothers and sisters and put into foster homes and that is probably part of my burden of wanting the mothers to remain with their children because Mexico is full of orphanages who have left the children there and they are out there somewhere, but they have no economic way to take care of them or the men that they married don't want the kids. I was then adopted.

"At 9 years old, my adopted family took me to California, and was raised in the Poway are of San Diego County and I managed a Burger King in the area for 14 years and that's when I moved to Riverside to manage another Burger King there.

"At the age of 21, I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California. I was raised spiritually at Calvary Chapel of Moreno Valley."

She said that as a child, a missionary came to her church and told about the starving children of Biafra in Nigeria. "On hearing about this, I told the Lord that I wanted to be a missionary for him one day even though I wasn't yet a believer. At 22 I began to go out on the mission trips - to Africa, the Philippines, Mexico and Burma. All the time I was seeking the Lord about where I should go fulltime and the Lord just gave me a great burden for the people of Mexico.

"During my first years on the mission field, so many women came up to me and told me that their husband abused them and had abandoned her and that they no resources. We didn't have the home at the time so I prayed for them and that was it. That was all we could do."

Lisa said that the burden eventually became too much to ignore and so she approached her home church to see if they would give her to covering to start a home for women and children that had been abandoned and abused.

"It's been going since 1996," she continued. "I had bought a piece of property and that's where I had a 15' x 20' room. There was no electricity or running water. No bathroom. So for my first two years, I read by candlelight and took my spit baths inside my house and so it was on that same property that the Lord provided the finances to be able to build a five-story dorm and then behind that we had another five-room dorm and then we had another five-room dorm upstairs build with an eating area down below and in that home right now, we have 11 moms and about 49 children that eat from our table every day. The Lord is faithful and He is their Dad and also our provider and He has just been awesome to us.

DANGERS
"We live in a very quiet and calm community and as far as gangs go, but sometimes the abusive men will come looking for their women. We've had a man with a machete come and wanted to chop his wife into pieces as he was drunk or drugged out.

"My partner Jeannie talked him and said, 'We know you want to see your wife and so what are you doing with that weapon? He eventually left and we also had two men who threatened to burn down our house. In many tribal areas, that's how they handle their problems. They just burn people's houses down. They think that is the way to solve their problem. The Lord protected us from that.

"We also had a man who lay in wait behind our house with a gun, looking for his wife. Fortunately, our neighbor warned us about him. He also threatened to burn down the house, but the Lord intervened and the problem."

Lisa said the women that come to their home for help are "30 percent single, who have no husbands and about 70 percent have husbands who are abusive or have a drug or alcohol problem.

"Most of the mothers are in a terrible state when they arrive. We have the first meeting with them and we try to find out the situation in their life. Usually, they are in tears and they tell you the situation that has happed and that is the first opportunity to present the love of Jesus to them. And some of them accept the Lord right there and then and for others it takes time for them to see that we love them and we are not going to take from them, but we want to give to them.

"In time, their heart softens and the Lord does a healing and we have devotionals in the morning and we pray with them about whatever situation is going on in their life.

"As long as they work, they are allowed to stay until they get on their feet. It could be a year and some have stayed two. It all depends on their circumstances."

NOT AFRAID
Lisa said that she and Jeanie are not afraid of the possible dangers from angry men. "I believe that, as the Bible says, 'unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain that build it' and 'unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.' That was the Scripture that God gave me. He is the one who is watching over us and He's the one who is guarding us?"

She said, they also have a schoolteacher on staff, who tutors the children who need special attention - the others attend local schools -- and they have another missionary who does miscellaneous things around our home.

JUANITA'S STORY
Jeanie Sue Phegley, who was born and raised in a mid-western town in Illinois, is known as Juanita in Mexico. "I heard the gospel when I was a teenager, but although I received Jesus into my life at that time, I didn't receive any discipleship and kind of walked in the wilderness for years," she said. "The Lord brought me out to the Southern California coast and in 1983, and I committed my life to Jesus at that time.

"I was trying to figure out then what He would have me do. In 1987, I went down to Mexico on a short-term missions trip. I was very content in my ministry and the things I was doing at home in San Bernardino, California. And then in 1991, she and I were at her to be home and I was planning to come to Mexico, but I didn't know how or when, and Lisa shared a vision with me. We sitting in a mobile home and there were six of us girls were digging an outhouse for her property. She looked across at us and she said, 'I would love to see a home for Mom's. A place where mothers could have their children and raise them and live a life with their kids.'

"I thought this was cool as I love kids and I realized that this would be a wonderful ministry. I bought the property next door. At the time, were ministry to the local migrant work camps where men and women in these little shacks and they worked the fields.

"In 1994, Lisa left us. I wondered what was going on as this ministry that she had a vision for was not going to happen without her being there. But the Lord just brought it to pass that in 1995, it happened. She come down for work projects and I would pray with her and then, in 1995, Lisa brought a work team down with her and they little by little they began to build the home in San Vicente. We didn't have electricity. We had water on our property and so I lived in a camper for the first five years there. It was an interesting kind of life.

"In 1995, these construction workers came and built this house and there it was. It was so cool, because I was watching God's plan being put into place. Every night we would get together and pray. We are as different as night, but on the most critical issues of the Lord and the Bible, we definitely agree.

"In 1996, the Lord gave me an open door to leave the ministry that I was with and come along side her and just see God's hand in helping the mom's and kids and working with them.

A SLAVE

Jeanie then told the story of a young woman who had come to Baja California from the state of Oaxaca to get work. "So here's come a little girl, 14 years old with her elder sister, to work and spend six months during the harvest season and get money for her family," she said. "She was there and she was befriended by a woman who persuaded her to come to ranch and her and her husband kept her captive for the next six years and she was badly abused. By now she had borne three children and young and innocent and knew this wasn't the right life.

"Finally, she moved to another community and she found a missionary and brought her to us and asked if we had a room for her. She is a precious little 21-year-old child with four children and has lived a life of slavery to this man and now she's excited because she knows that the Lord is in her life. And she has received him as her savior and has really taken a responsible role in her children's life and she is seeking the Lord. She is so young and has had such a hard life and now she is seeing that the Lord is husband and a father to her children."

Jeanie said that the day starts with devotions from 6:30 -8:00 AM. "We read a chapter of the Bible and then we ask the ladies what in that chapter touched their heart and what does it mean to them?" she continued. "It is a wonderful time every morning to see women learn more about the Word of God. Then Shelly Skaggs, our other missionary, makes several runs to take kids to school."

Each Sunday, all of the women and children are bused to Ensenada to attend Calvary Chapel/Horizonte, which is pastored by Juan Domingo, an American who has changed his name and taken Mexican citizenship.

Now, a sister church is about to be planted in San Vicente with a member of the Ensenada church and so they will not be making the trip of about 40 miles for much longer. A new development is that next door to the church, the women will be opening an Italian restaurant called the Mona Lisa and so they will enjoy a spaghetti lunch after the Sunday morning service.

Said Jeanie, "This is the happiest time of my life. It is a blessing to be serving these women and their children."

I concluded by asking Jeanie what her message was to single women who feel that God can't use them.

"Don't doubt the power of the Lord because He can use you - if you make yourself available. That's the key. You have to be willing to take that step to do what he says you should do."

These two women have certainly proved that!

The summer was wonderfully busy for the children and for the many guests the Lord brought to our little town. We had over ten teams visit in a two month period. The visits were wonderful and we had two houses built for two moms and their children to move into as they move out of Casa Del Pastor and into their new lives. We also had considerable work done on Phase II, the new dorms and kitchen that will house many more moms and their precious children to be safe in and to live. Our local church, Calvary Chapel Horizonte also benefited from the summer teams as the floor was laid and 18 foot high walls were erected, three of the four walls are standing and plans are already in place for the final wall. It is so exciting to see God building his church here in San Vicente, in buildings, but more importantly in the lives of his sheep. The visiting teams brought crafts, dramas, plays Bible stories, sports, music, worship and other terrific activities and blessings for our 11 moms and 67 children who call Casa Del Pastor home. The children are back in school now but have many sweet memories of their summer at CDP.

King’s Kids Visit His Kingdom in the States!

The Lord allowed little Jesus to visit old friends and make new friends as he came up with his mom to have surgery, however, the surgery to separate his two webbed fingers was postponed again. The Lord says "I know the plans I have for you, plans to help you and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future". Jeremiah 29:11 We might not have the same time schedule that God has, but we can trust that His timing is perfect and that He loves us. Jesus’ surgery is rescheduled for October and his friends in the states will look forward to the five year old’s bright smile and cheery "Hola’s!".

Jesus and Pilar were also able to come to the United States in August and they were able to act as ambassadors for Christ as Pilar shared her testimony at three churches in Florida, including three services in one church! It was an exciting time for them as neither had flown before, but it was an opportunity to allow others to share in the special work being done at Casa Del Pastor. Jeanie, Lisa, Jesus and Pilar made the trip as guests of Calvary Chapel, Emerald Coast. God’s timing is perfect as they arrived during a beautifully calm week, sandwiched between two weeks of hurricanes! As they enjoyed the calm weather and sweet fellowship they marveled at God’s loving kindness as they were treated royally as King’s Kids by the wonderful brothers and sisters at Calvary Chapel, Emerald Coast in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

At the present time, Jeanie is personally mothering 7 children! Five are Marilu’s children, she has left and Jeanie hopes she will visit, she has only visited once. Two others, Eloy and Beto, refused to go with their mother into their mother’s abusive boyfriend’s home. They are safe with Jeanie and their mother comes and visits each week. We continue to pray for her to follow God’s plan and to make Godly choices.

Passports Are Needed-Don’t Wait!

Over the past 14 years there have been a lot of questions about the passports and visas that should be obtained before entering Baja, California, Mexico. It has always been assumed that there has been so much tourism in Baja California that Visa and passports were not needed and that an American driver’s license would be sufficient to return back into the United States at the Mexico-American border. However, in light of 9-11 and the recent acts of terrorism all over the world, this will change. According to our information there will be heightened security requirements at the border and passports and or visas will be required to reenter the United States of America. That is you will be able to visit me but you’ll have to stay. I would strongly recommend obtaining your United States Passport, it is a good idea to obtain that now so you will be prepared as we have heard that it will be needed as early as 2006. The groups and individuals who visit and minister to the moms and children at Casa Del Pastor are our life support and we don’t want to see that cut off.

A certain mom in our Casa has gotten involved with a married man and lives are being destroyed, there are three adults and six children involved in the two families. Please pray for repentance and healing.

Little Jesus

"Mi amigo!" shouts little four year old Jesus as his face lights up! He runs excitedly to one friend after another. This scene was repeated several times as little Jesus greeted several old friends at Calvary Chapel, San Bernardino. Little Jesus lives at Casa del Pastor and was visiting the states on a medical visa for a doctor�s appointment. While he and his mom were here they were blessed with a trip to Disneyland and to see a play at the Christian Arts Theater in Corona.Jesus was born with two fingers fused together and comes with his mom Pilar to the Shriner�s hospital. He is scheduled for surgery in September 2005. Although the Lord allowed his fingers to be fused together it was apparent that the Lord has also fused his heart together to his many friends from Calvary Chapel Red Barn in San Bernardino as he saw and greeted the many friends who have come down to Mexico to assist in the Casa del Pastor ministry. It is amazing to see how the Lord brings one person along side the other and the difference each person can make. God has called us to love each other and to further His kingdom and I have a special thank you to every person who is involved in this ministry at Casa del Pastor. To those who come down and help paint or build things for the moms and kids. To the faithful whose monthly and other donations support and feed the moms and children. To the ones who pray for us and lift us up in prayer. Thank you. As Jesus said excitedly as he was passed from one friend to another "Mi amigos!" Please know that you are part of his joy.

Marjorie McPhillips

"Well done, good and faithful servant!" These are the words we long to hear when we enter heaven�s gates. Marjorie McPhillips is an example of one of God�s good and faithful servants. Marjorie has been a missionary for over 24 years. She lives in San Vicente and we have had wonderful fellowship together. Marjorie has had some serious health problems lately, but the Lord has graciously brought her through thus far. Marjorie is 80 years old and needed artery surgery.

After she came home to San Vicente she felt that she was having a heart attack. After she was taken to a hospital in San Diego it was found that she did indeed had had a heart attack. She ended up having a quadruple bypass, but wonderfully came through and is making such a rapid recovery that the doctor�s are amazed. She was out of intensive care in 12 hours, within 24 hours she was sitting up chatting to the nurses and even walking down the hall. She was discharged in only four days because she was doing so well! She is actually out of the hospital and is renting a room in San Diego for a few months while she recovers with a home care nurse. Please pray for her steady recovery and her ongoing walk with the Lord. Lisa and Jeanie are going to visit her and bring her any items that she needs .

School Supplies Needed:

With approximately 71 children at Casa Del Pastor, the majority who are school aged, you can imagine the need for school supplies! Schools in Mexico generally do not provide any school supplies, the children must have their own. This actually keeps quite a few children from attending. As part of giving the children a "hope and a future" all of the children at Casa Del Pastor attend school, even through high school and some onto college! This is not the norm, these children are very lucky to be able to continue their education, but they do need school supplies. Right now is a good time to look at the list and pick up some extra that are on sale at Walmart or Target etc. Call Jeanie and she�ll help you arrange on how to get them to her. Thank you!

Capilla Calvario/Horizonte (Calvary Chapel-San Vicente)

One of our biggest prayers answered through the years has been the establishing of a systemic Bible teaching church, here in San Vicente. Not only for our families but for our community. The Lord established Calvary Chapel-Capilla Calvario/Horizonte with our beloved Pastor Kiki. Before there was our own Calvary Chapel, we used to load everybody from Casa Del Pastor on the bus each Sunday and travel over an hour to Ensenada to attend a Calvary Chapel there! Now, with our own home church here in San Vicente, we can be much more involved! The church is on the move, in its physical location. We were renting three rooms in a building, but the owner asked us to vacate two of the three rooms. As you can imagine, the church has quite a large children�s ministry, so we needed more than one room total! Pastor Kiki called a board meeting and we prayed and discussed the matter. Well, a large warehouse was offered to us, free of charge! The Lord has his plans as always. He will lead and guide our church! The new property, that the Lord provided, is being prepared, and Lord willing, a floor for the sanctuary will be poured within a month and in another month, a church is planning on coming to install the walls for us. Finally, a roof will go up within four months! This is the schedule we are praying for, please join us in this pray request for our new church home! In the meantime, the church is going to meet in two houses temporarily. The Lord is good and it is our ultimate prayer that His will be done. It is an incredible thing to see His work here in San Vicente. He not only cares for our own families at Casa Del Pastor, but the whole town! I know that He has good plans for your too, always remember to seek Him

FM-3 Visa

Every year I need to get permission to remain in Mexico. For the first five years in Mexico, I had no idea that I needed this permission. However, for the past nine years, I have prayerfully receive this permission, called at FM-3 Visa. It took 3 1/2 years to receive the first permission due to many technicalities. It is that time of the year again. I need your fervent prayers. This paperwork takes a great deal of time and energy. Could you pray for this FM3, it makes a big difference! Thanks!

She had come from Tijuana and is a mild mannered, quiet and gentle woman. When she arrived, over a year ago, she was very scared, worried mainly for her three children. The youngest boy, her seven years old, was so tramautized that he was incontinent, and the other two were terrified and not talking. Five years earlier, she had been at Casa Del Pastro because her husband had been involved with drugs. When her husband had gone to drug rehab and had seemed to be doing better, she had returned to him. When she returned to him, she�d hoped that he would remain clean. However, five years later, she came back, but the damage to her children wasgreat and only the Grace of God could heal her children�s hurts. Sandra was a broken woman and was seeking the Lord, for herself and for her children. One of the most important things we do is provide a peaceful and Godly atmosphere for the moms and children to heal. Sandra and her children have been with us for over a year. She is growing in the Lord and her children are settled and confident. There has been a big change in all of her family, the have "a hope and a future". God is changing lives here, please continue to pray and support Sandra and all of the mother�s and children here. You are involved in making a difference here in Mexico!.

When this newsletter comes to you many people have worked to get it there. There have been illnesses, communication and technical problems for our team. Marilu And Her Children

We have a history of seven years with this certain mom, Marilu. She came to us seven years ago because she was pregnant and at the end of her resources. She had five of her children with her and was carrying her 9th child (2 children had died and relatives were raising a third).

She has been a challenge to minister to because she is so apathetic. A few years ago we saw that she was also a very angry person and has harmed her own children because of that anger. We had to do crisis intervention and she went in and out of counseling because of her apathy.

Finally, after 5 years, 2 years ago, she told us that the father of her 5 year old was asking her to come back to him. She felt that he would take care of her and her children. She was gone only 3 weeks and then returned saying she wanted her children to remain at Casa Del Pastor so they could continue in the special school they had been attending. I agreed on the condition that she would visit regularly. I started raising the children and she did not visit. Then after a year she returned, upset and hurt, saying the man was mistreating her (which he had done before). She asked for a new chance, . After much prayer, I agreed that she could stay. However, within a few days it came out that she was carrying her 10th child. I was not surprised. She had known this and had deceived me.

This woman is very apathetic in her mothering skills and the school had noticed the radical change in her children when she was around. The children actually appear more secure and able to learn when the mother was not present than when she is at Casa Del Pastor. Marilu finally returned to the man. I had really wanted to see her seek counseling and change, but it was not happening.

Now her 10th child is 1 year old and she returned asking to come back to Casa Del Pastor. I said no. I asked that she find a room to rent to be near, but she could not live here at Casa Del Pastor as it has a negative affect on her children. She had been here 6 weeks but had made no effort to find a room. Even when a trailer became available and was offered rent free to her, she refused.

I did not want to take legal action against this woman, but I did not want to jeopardize her children?s welfare, either I have been raising these children,: Juan, Reyna, Fransisco (Pancho), Isabel and Celia for two years and have become their adoptive mom. I need prayer for wisdom and Marilu needs prayer also to get right with Jesus and to be led by Him. Please join me in prayer for this delicate situation.

Note: Before this was sent to print, Marilu left CDP while I was away. She left 5 of her children in my care. Prayer is still needed, thank you.

Sad News

Lucia, mother of Ezequiel, Susana, Gilbert, William, Fedencio, and Jeanie has gotten involved with a man. She left with all of her children without thinking of their safety, security or welfare. She is not at peace or involved with the Lord's counsel. We are praying that she realizes her error before her children are harmed. Please pray for her and her children.

Praise Reports

Casa Del Pastor continues to thrive! We have 15 families, including 79 children. Our children continue to receive top honors in the schools, thanks in part to our intensive schooling/tutoring program run by our teacher missionary Chelah. The children continue to grow healthy and strong in their bodies, minds and in the Lord with daily Bible stories, and weekly church services and Bible Club meetings.

The Lord has done much these last 13 or so years! Now there is a busy Calvary Chapel in our small town ministering not only to our families but to the whole community. Our Phase II building is going forward and it will house 30 families. And, the Lord has given us a strong desire to open up a private Christian bilingual school for our children and for those in the community! We are starting to pray and plan for it. We want only excellent things for our children here "to give them a hope and a future".

Our moms are involved in many endeavors, including our own restaurant as well as other businesses. They are busy saving their money to buy their own plot, have a house built and continue to rebuild their lives. And Casa Del Pastor is a big part of this and you with your prayers and financial support are also a big part in God?s amazing work down here at Casa Del Pastor

Christmas Shoe Boxes
Every year our mission: Casa Del Pastor is privileged to serve the Lord by distributing shoe box Christmas presents to the children in the work camp near us. These children live in the most severe poverty, and receiving this box of Christmas treats is an incredible gift. If you are able to participate, here is some information: The children enjoy little toys and treats. We also like to include a touch of Jesus with a Spanish Bible or tract. The top and bottom of the shoe box needs to be wrapped separately, and please note what age and gender child would most appreciate the gift (for example: boy 7-10). Shoe boxes can be brought to Calvary Chapel San Bernardino by December 6th, or if you prefer to mail it, contact Jeanie Sue by email for an address: jspinmex@telnor.net. before the week of December 6th. We are looking to serve over 500 children at the camp of Las Brisas. Each year we go into a dark and seemingly hopeless situation to shine Jesus upon these beautiful children. Each year these children see the hand of Jesus through these gifts of love. Won't you please join us this year? You could come and spend a few days to go out to the camp to help distribute the gifts. Two Special Children�

One of the ways we minister to the community is to sponsor a few local children in school, that is to provide what they need to be able to attend school, whereas normally they would not be able to be educated. I have prayerfully chosen a young lady and a young man, both 12 who reside at the work camp of Las Brisas, Lucia and Pedro. Lucia and Pedro would probably be out in the fields working every day like so many of the boys and girls their age at Las Brisas if it weren�t for the support that they receive. With your help, we�ve provided uniforms, school supplies, shoes and second hand bikes (so that they can get to school). Both Pedro and Lucia are doing very well and are very grateful for this opportunity to create a better future for themselves. I had many plans and ideas of what would occur during my furlough in the States this month..but the Lord had other ideas! When I arrived in San Bernardino and saw a group of people in the church parking lot, I was surprised that they were there to greet me, but unfortunately it wasn�t so...my friends were waiting in the parking lot discussing they had been evacuated two times because of the ferocious fire! I had wondered about the darkening sky as I had driven up from the South and when I had inquired at a gas station , the attendant said �there are fires all over�. Tragically, the fire consumed nearly 1000 houses in the San Bernardino area..the fire overshadowed everything, but even so..God�s hand and abundant grace were everywhere I turned. I had the privilege of praying with strangers at a prayer tent that Calvary Chapel had set up at the evacuation center.. and sat side by side with others as I helped box clothes for displaced families. My heart and prayers go out to all of my brothers and sisters in Southern California who were effected by this tragedy, but it is a powerful reminder, that in the end, we will only have Jesus and what we do with his love for us and His salvation plan for our lives. He is truly the only thing that matters, and the life spent seeking Him first is the life not spent in vain. Blessings as you seek Him in your life.

Christmas - Shoe Box Gifts to Mexico

Each year Calvary Chapel San Bernardino collects and distributes "shoe box gifts" to children in San Vicente, Baja Ca. through Jeanie Sue. Jeanie has been in this community for 12 years and says, "I have seen how these gifts have ministered to the children and their parents with the love of Jesus year after year!"
Our goal is 500 Shoe Box gifts!

Contents should include:
Toothbrush and Paste,
Soap, Wash Cloth,
Shampoo,
Comb or Brush,
Age appropriate Spanish Bible or little child's Bible color book.
Toys for Girl:
Jack & Ball or Small Doll Ring Set.

Toys for Boy:
Mini Car, Ball or Figurine.

Use your imagination and be creative about the contents but remember to keep the items age appropriate. The children are infant through pre teen.

All gifts must be in a Shoe Box sized container with the lid wrapped separately so we can check the contents and add tracts and other donations. Please designate your box for a boy or girl and recommended age. Spanish Bibles and evangelical tracts are available in our 'Chapel Book Store' and should be included.

Wrapped "Shoe Boxes" are received on the patio beginning Sundays mid November thru early December after our regular AM services.

HISTORY

Calvary Chapel San Bernardino began going to Mexico on short term mission trips in the summer of 1989. Since that time, we have one full-time missionary, Jeanie Sue Phegley, from our fellowship in Mexico and we continue to travel for weekend work trips about four times a year.

AREA

The mission base, Casa del Pastor is located in San Vicente, 60 miles south of Ensenada, in Baja California. San Vicente is located in a small valley about 30 miles inland from the coast. The temperature and climate are very similar to San Bernardino. If it is raining here, it will probably be raining in San Vicente; if it is 100F here, chances are it will be equally warm in San Vicente.

WORK PERFORMED

At Casa del Pastor, battered and abused women and children are ministered to with food, clothing, shelter, first-aid, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We also travel outside the mission base to local camps where we are able to share the Gospel, provide clothing, and assist with minor medical attention.

during Christmas, we put together 100's of "She Box" gifts and distribute them to the needy children on the base and in the camps. Filled with toys, personal hygiene items and Gospel tracts; these "Boxes" minister love and care to the kids.

Much of the work performed on weekend mission trips involves physical labor. Many different building projects have been completed for our missionary Jeanie Sue which have included: digging septic tanks, painting, roofing, framing, slab work, carpentry and plumbing.

Future tasks include: Additional construction and maintenance on Jeanie's trailer and the women's group home and other projects.

ITEMS NEEDED FOR THE TRIP

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please Note:
Because of the possibility of offending the majority of the local residents, the following guidelines must be followed:

1. No shorts of any kind.
2. No tank tops, halter tops, or bare midriffs.
3. No T-Shirts with suggestive or inappropriate wording (e.g. beer, etc.)
4. No "military type" clothing (including camouflage).
5. Must keep shirt on at all times.

MISCELLANEOUS

1. Showers are "iffy" (water is not always available).
2. no electrical appliances (hair dryers, curling irons, electric razors, etc.).
FINANCIAL OBLIGATION

$40.00 per person

All monies must be paid to the Mexico Coordinator by the Sunday prior to the trip. If you are unable to go once the fees are paid, the money will be refunded. The fees cover the cost of 4 meals prepared and eaten at the base. a portion of this money also buys extra food for the base missionaries. The church provides Van transportation only. Additional vehicles go at the owner's expense. All fees, such as gasoline, insurance, and tolls, should be shared with the passengers of any extra vehicle.

Sometimes people have ideas of what missionaries do, but do not have anything on which to gage it. So, in praying for this newsletter, I believe the Lord wants me to tell you about an average week:

ON SUNDAYS I wake and prepare for church. Have you ever seen a house of 23 children and 10 adults eating breakfast and getting ready to leave the home? Gee, it is hectic but fun. Although I live apart from Casa de Pastor, I go in for breakfast and I am the official chauffeur of Casa del Pastor. I need to corral them together to get in the van to take them to church. Oh, that reminds me! A few months ago Lisa and I were discussing the ideas and future hopes of the home, and we realized as we grew we would need larger transportation to take the ladies and their children places. So we prayed and guess what the Lord did? He provided two vans in less than three months, WOW!!

Back to the main idea. So then we go to a local service at the orphanage and they have good worship and mini services. We want a good Bible teaching church. One that will teach the cleansing word of God verse by verse and have a good pastor.

We are praying for the Calvary Chapel of Ensenada. In the future that is the church we will be attending and praying for and assisting in the planting. On April 2,3,4 of this year, we are having a ground breaking festival of life and inviting the public. Many different churches are coming together in the making of this event and Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara is the church heading up the event and Calvary Chapel San Bernardino hopes to join them seeing the Lord break the chains of sin and heartbreaking sadness in a radical way. Whoops, once again the main idea was my schedule!

Then, in the afternoon of Sundays, I have a disciple group. It is a small group of 3 young people. Rocio, Gabi, Aurea and I have been going through the Design for Discipleship, a navigator study, for the last year. It is very difficult for them because it calls them to be accountable for their actions. As youth, they are fighting the battles, however Jesus has the victory for them.

ON MONDAYS, the Casa del Pastor has devotions at 7 a.m., and then we set out the makings of the meals for the day. One child goes to school at 8 a.m., so either Juana, the mom or Lisa or I take her to school and pick up tortillas for the days meals. Then there are six of the children who go to kindergarten, and they must be there at 9 a.m. All the children are picked up at 12 noon each day. Between 8 moms and 23 children, someone is always sick, so there is doctors visits or a vaccination or errand that a mom needs to do. The youth Bible club is on this day, so I set aside 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to study. At 6:30 we start and end at 8 p.m. We are studying the book of Acts. They are learning about the sacrifices of Paul and the growth of the Christian church.

TUESDAY is a bit different each week. It has no schedule per se. Yet I do start at 7 a.m. with the girls in devotions, as we do every day. And today I went to the store and took a mom and her one month old baby to the doctor. We had a prayer meeting also at 11 a.m. For the last three years the missionaries and pastors and leaders in the churches have been meeting once a month for prayer. It is the third Tuesday of each month. At 1 p.m. had to pick up her voters registration card. Rocio had to pick up her typewriter that had been repaired. Gabi needed black school shoes. Plus I had to pay a phone bill and buy a few things that could not be obtained in San Vicente. Each Tuesday is different and yet packed to the brim, if I can use the coffee phase.

NOW WEDNESDAYS ARE MY FAVORITE. Up at 7 a.m. for devotions, and the children needing to get to school and stuff like that - that's every weekday. Today is Bible Club Day! I prepare for club and receive children from 10:30 a.m. Club official starts at 11. We have song and worship the Lord. Boy, I love watching the kids praise Jesus. Lisa is now leading worship and we are a team once again with children's worship. It is wonderful after three years of other ministries directives. We are glad the Lord knows our hearts to once again lead worship together for Bible Club. After that is storytime directly from the Bible, and the plan of salvation. (Actually 7 years ago it was her idea to start a good news Bible club. We started it together on Easter of 1991.) We have watched children grow and learn about the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have watched children be saved and walk in Christ. The morning Bible Club is for the children who go to school in the afternoon as well as the afternoon session for the morning school group. I have 2 clubs - the afternoon session starts at 2, but children come as early as 1, and the club ends at 3:30.

The drama team called "Sigidores para Christo" meets at the Center for Teens at 6 p.m. We practice dramas and discuss other ways to serve Jesus. The objective of this group is to allow the Holy Spirit to move in their lives to give them an opportunity to serve and to love their own people. We go to the work camps and the local churches.

THEN FALLS THURSDAYS. The only thing different is I do not go over to the devotions, but have a longer personal time. Usually I do trips to Ensenada this day too, and last week I took a brother in the Lord to a few doctors appointments. He and his wife have been my dear friends for over 6 years. He had a stroke 7 years ago and still suffers with severe headaches and other complications.

In the evenings I go to the Center for Teens. This is a center with the intentions to befriend non-Christians, to share friendship in a Christ-like way, and to share the love He has for them. For me it is wonderful to see so many youth in one place searching. Often I see children that have been in my Bible club, si I know their face and name. Last evening I was talking to a leader of the Center and he was telling me about a gang that is attending. The group of boys all wear baggy pants, T-shirts and ball caps. To me they look like a bunch of regular boys, and yet he told me that they were real troublemakers. He has seen change in the last year. I have only been involved in the last six months. I take my Bible Club of teens and we hopefully are lights in the dark for these guys.

FRIDAY is a day full of office work and the other daily activities of running a household. The jobs of meals and buying for the home is divided between Lisa and I. We get two weeks and trade off and on. We discuss all decisions regarding the home and work well together. Along with the mom's responsibility of providing milk for their babies and diapers, each of them and the children will be expected to do chores and follow rules. All mothers and children are expected to attend devotions and Bible studies. These families are free to leave at any time. The children are expected to attend school and are encouraged to further their education. Each mom works and does different jobs to earn money for their children's milk and diapers and other needs. We offer various other jobs so they can get going in other ways. We have a food cart, sell secondhand clothing, make pens, bracelets and necklaces. We have future ideas of puppet making and blanket making and other options too. One mom has been with us a year and paid off the lot she had been buying and now is saving for the blocks to build her house. So all this takes much coordination and time to keep in order.

SATURDAYS are different. Sometimes we have groups and we often are planning the Saturdays weeks in advance. Like the month of February was a border run to bring goods for the home to the Mexico side. Then one of the women was married on a Saturday, and the next two Saturdays were filled with activities of the youth center. So, as you can see, the days fly by, and are packed with many different activities to keep me occupied.

We are still burdened for the camps and hope to fit the feedings in on Tuesdays and Fridays. There are four people who are praying to join us in the next two years and we are looking forward to the welcomed addition in co-laboring for Jesus.

So, as you can see, I keep busy and need your prayers. It really is an honor to serve Jesus here in Mexico and I pray that I may remain until the time He has another call for my life. Matthew 6:33

Insights From A Friend

Dear Friends,

My name is Alicia and I asked Jeanie if I could have the privilege of writing her newsletter this month and she graciously agreed. I thought it would be helpful to some of you who haven't had the opportunity to visit Casa Del Pastor if I shared some impressions from my recent trips down. My first time to see this wonderful place was in October and I was able to visit again earlier this month. I had many questions and was very interested in the daily workings of Casa Del Pastor and it was an incredible experience to be able to go down and see God's work in action and to see what he has accomplished and to see what you are a part of as He touches and changes lives of some of his sheep in Mexico.

We know that God has a tender heart for these women and their children. God tells us that a child's angel is "Always before His face" and makes numerous provisions for windows in the Bible. God commands husbands to "love their wives", but in our sinful world this isn't always so, and many women suffer terribly. But not at Casa Del Pastor. "House of the Shepherd" their weeping has truly been turned to joy. What you notice first are the children. Their smiling, joyful faces are everywhere. They have a good place to live and every single one of them goes to school. Our own children do too, but for many of these children, their lives have not always been this peaceful and happy.

Each family has their own room with beds and dressers etc. Right now there are 10 rooms, 10 mothers and about 45 children. Each mother works and saves their money for their future. Many will buy lots and have houses built and will never have to worry about where they will live in peace again. Most work outside of Casa Del Pastor while some are paid to watch the children of those working. Every mother has duties at their house. They take turns preparing meals and the kitchen is constantly busy with people cooking and children eating and doing homework. The children are given jobs to do as well. There is not enough water pressure to support a dishwasher, so the children wash the dishes. There are always children at the sink working with smiles on their faces. They will also pick up branches, clean the hallways and do whatever else needs to be done to take care of their home. It is amazing to me that one large room (actually only about the size of my own kitchen/living room) can support so many people and serve as their kitchen/living room, but it does! The schools in San Vicente run on a double shift. Some children attend from 8:00 until 12:00 and some attend from 1:00 until 5:00. The secondary schools also run on a double schedule but start earlier. Everybody eats lunch at home, some before school and after. The children wear uniforms to school, the white and blue ones that have also been used in the States. They all have a backpack. The ones that attend school in the afternoon come and eat with a play shirt covering their uniform and then they run to their rooms and take it off before they are driven to school. Night times are some of my favorite times at Casa Del Pastor. Every child gathers into the main room and they sing Bible songs with the guitar that Lisa usually plays. The joy that radiates from their face as they sing is terrific! They receive much more than a safe place to live, they are taught about their heavenly Father who loves them and that He has a plan for their lives and who sent Jesus to die for their sins. They hear Bible stories at night and on Wednesday's they attend a Bible Club in a room attached to Jeanie's house that local children can also attend. Every Sunday the whole group, up to 60 of them, climb into busses and vans and travel over an hour to Ensenada to attend the Calvary Chapel there. They take a picnic lunch and they have a great time. They will also travel to the park or to the beach to enjoy family times together. But every night, as they gather together, they bow their heads in prayer and they take turns praying 'Father, thank you for Casa Del Pastor' and they thank Him for their families and for Jeanie (whom they call Juanita) and for the other missionaries there. They thank Him for their food and their clothes. They echo each other as they pray, it is very touching and powerful "for when two or more are gathered in my name then I will be there also".

God has raised up this place in really just a few short years and it is growing. There is a huge building already being built. The foundation is in, the septic is built (the monster hole) and the outer walls are up and are already painted with pictures of sheep and their shepherds. As I was marveling at it, I thought "how appropriate that they have the shepherd already painted on the building for our foundation is Jesus and on Him our lives need to be built".

And Christ is the center of Casa del Pastor. Each morning at 6:30 the mothers meet for Bible Study and prayer. They are not forced to attend, but it seems that almost all do. These women are not just being given a temporary place to stay but they are being given a chance to have the Lord change their lives. Even if they leave after a short time, and a few do, they will have seen Christ's love in action and their children will have been taught about God who loves them.

It is incredible, too, for me to see God in action. The missionaries will meet and pray in the evening and at other times. They rely on the Lord to provide their needs and He is first. They seem to have faith for breakfast, joy for lunch and peace for dinner. It was exciting to meet faces and put them to names that I had read about in Jeanie's letters. Jeanie and Lisa were the first missionaries. They stood together on a dusty plot of bare land and God gave them a vision and they prayed and watched Him create something incredible out of barrenness. I met Chelah, a teacher who has set up a classroom to help teach and tutor the children there. Shelly who, among other things, chaperones the children to school. (Imagine your own family and how much you drive around!) Sean and Jennifer serve at casa Del pastor and out to the work camps with the poorest of the poor. Ricardo and Norma serve with Ricardo always available for the ongoing repair needed.

How can you be involved? What do they need? Many of you have been Jeanie's faithful supporters for years and many of you have had the privilege of traveling down there, and God will richly bless you for your faithfulness, but some might be new or have never been down there (as I hadn't before October, to my shame). So here are some things I observed. First of all, we need to be very faithful to support the ministry every month. Even if you don't get a newsletter. The support you send marked for Mexico is used by Jeanie to pay bills. She gets about $600-$800 a month and uses that to buy groceries and pay bells for two weeks. Think about that. They feed about 60 people three meals a day. I know I spend a whole lot more for my family's food and bills! I was surprised that food in Mexico isn't really cheaper than food in the States and some things like rice and beans are higher! And it's against the law to take rice and beans across the border. But that's a big way to help is by being faithful. They can use donations of items too, clothes, especially boys clothes. Furniture, ant furniture you don't need or can pick up cheaply for them such as dressers, etc. If your child has uniforms they've outgrown or backpacks they no longer use then please save them for Mexico. You can either box things up and send them to her Chula Vista address or call the church and find out when the next group is going down. They can always use toiletries, each new mother is given toothbrushes, combs, etc. Laundry soap is a big expense (as one can imagine) and donations are appreciated. They do have babies and diapers and formula are helpful. Most of all, please be faithful in prayer. God is blessing Casa Del Pastor but you can be sure Satan doesn't want these women and children cared for, taught and nurtured. If you haven't had a chance, come for a visit. It's a blessing to see God's love in action at Casa Del Pastor.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Thank you for your desire to serve the women and children at Casa del Pastor and our community of San Vicente..

*MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES:
There are many ways you can serve the Lord in San Vicente. We suggest bringing children's programs such as VBS, puppets, dramas, Bible stories in Spanish, and crafts to do with our children. For the mothers in our home, we would also suggest Bible studies in Spanish, crafts, worship, and classes on health, nutrition and raising children in the Lord.

We also have a ministry to the migrant work camps where we feed the people and do a Bible program.

You can minister to the town of San Vicente by doing outreach in our local park and street witnessing.

*WORK PROJECTS:
There are many areas in which you can serve Casa Del Pastor and the community of San Vicente. For people wanting to do a large work project (such as building a home for one of our moms) we ask that your group raises the funds for the project. We have a skilled builder available to guide you through these types of work projects. If you choose to build a home, the cost is $2,200 to lay a foundation and $4,000 to build the house. This cost may vary as prices increase.
We also have other work projects that are not as large such as painting, gardening, cleaning, weeding, repair work on buildings, vehicles, or appliances, etc. In other words, if you have two working hands and a willing heart, we have a job for you!!!

VISITING TEAM CONDUCT:

Because we would like to be good witnesses to our neighbors and the women and children at Casa Del Pastor, we would like to present some rules and guidelines to follow while Ministering at Casa Del Pastor:

-PAY ATTENTION AT ALL MEETINGS; don't distract others.

-Do not leave the premises alone and always ask your leader before you go. Go in groups of no less than three.

-No public displays of affection. If you are boyfriend and girlfriend, when you arrive we should not be able to determine that.

-Be kind and courteous to each other as well as to everyone you come in contact with in our community. (Your actions and your words are read by all. Model Christianity.) Phil 2:4

-A guy and a girl may not leave the premises alone together.

-Respect and follow the rules of your leaders and those of Casa Del Pastor. Heb 13: 17 (Submissive = Attitude behind obedience)

-Anyone bringing children less than 13 years of age must tend to them and keep a watchful eye over them.

-When using the bathroom.. If its yellow let it mellow, if its brown flush it down. Put the toilet paper in the trash can, not the toilet.

-Don't drink the water; don't get water in your mouth in the shower. Use only bottled water to brush your teeth.

-Stay hydrated; drink lots of bottled water, not soda!

-Stay out of the sun when not working. Use sunscreen at all times.

-Only eat at previously approved eating establishments.

-When you are hot, tired and your attitude is bad: STOP, PRAY AND OBEY!

*MALE CONDUCT AROUND OUR MOMS AND YOUTH GIRLS:

-Be kind and respectful to all

-Please, no hugs. A handshake is preferable.

-Do not give special attention to anyone or single out an individual, it may be taken wrong.

-Do not buy special gifts for one. Please do the same for all.

-Do not allow yourself to be alone with any mom or girl.

-Report any questionable conduct on the part of our moms or youth girls.

*CONDUCT AROUND OUR CHILDREN:

-The kids have rules; respect them.

-During church services, don't play with or be a distraction to the CDP children.

-Treat our children with kindness.

-Do not give the children money.

-If you are going to bring a gift to give away, bring enough for everyone.

-Do not loan your personal items (i.e. sunglasses, hats, car keys).

-Do not exclude the older kids and moms. Look for kids and moms that are being excluded and make friends with them.

-Do not go anywhere alone with our children.

-Visitors are not allowed in the kid's rooms without the permission of the directors.

-Tell us if our kids are not behaving - if you wouldn't allow it in your home, they probably should not be doing it here.

-Ask for permission from one of the directors before you take the kids anywhere.

-Do not allow the children to ride in the bed of a truck out on the main road.

-Children are not allowed on construction sites.

*DRESS CODE: MODEST DRESS
It is important to remember that there are definite cultural differences between what is considered modest in the United States and in Mexico. Generally in Mexico bare skin other than the face, lower arms and below the knee is considered immodest and in the work camps restrictions are greater. Neither is exposed underwear culturally acceptable. Additionally, body and face piercing (other than a single pair earrings for women) is not accepted there as it is here so jewelry of this type should not be worn while in Mexico.

Guidelines for dress...

[Women]
-Blouses must have sleeves
-No exposed cleavage or midriffs
-Shorts and skirts (no shorter than three inches above the knee) or pants may be worn (Long skirts must be worn at the work camps.)
-Shoes must be worn when walking around outside
-Closed toe shoes should be worn at all work camps

[Men]
-SHIRTS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES
-No sleeveless shirts
-Shorts or pants may be worn (Pants must be worn at work camps.)
-Pants to be worn pulled up around the waist
-Shoes must be worn when walking around outside
-Closed toe shoes should be worn at all work camps

*FOOD AND ACCOMODATIONS:

Meals can be eaten at our Mona Lisa restaurant. The cost is $12 per day or $4 per meal. This price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. A tip for the mothers that are cooking is appreciated.

Accommodations.. There are two options. There are hotels in town (the cost is about $34 dollars a night per room) or the guesthouse at $5 a night per person. When renting the guesthouse, please leave the house cleaner than what you found it and follow the list of dos and dont's found on the front and back door of the house.

*LIGHT OUT AND CURFEW:
Please be considerate of those around you. It is very important that all are rested and ready to serve the Lord for the following day. We do have a curfew but want to be flexible in this area. If your activity finishes late, that is okay. On a normal day, we ask that the lights go out by 11 pm.

*TO BRING LIST:

*MINISTRY NEEDS:

-Food (i.e. meat, chicken, fish, cheese, fruits, vegetables, flour, sugar, oil, salt, spices, rice, beans, powdered milk, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, coffee, powdered cream, snacks for kids' lunches)

-Clothing (i.e. women's clothes, shoes, undergarments-preferably new; kid's clothes- 6 months to 18 years old, especially boys pants in good condition, most of our children are between the ages of 5 and 11, shoes, socks, underwear)

-Towels, sheets, blankets, pillows

-Dishes (preferably plastic) cups, bowls, plates, big serving bowls, big pots, silverware (spoons and forks), and cooking utensils.

*INDIVIDUAL SHORT-TERM MISSIONARY PROGRAM:
We welcome short-term missionaries. Please be aware that this is not an 8 to 5 job. Expect to work long hours and have very little personal time. An application must be filled out and sent in with at least two references from a pastor and a church member. We ask for a $100 donation per month to help pay for food.

Things to consider when handing out applications:

1. Is he or she currently involved in some type of ministry?

2. Has he or she ever talked to you about missions?

3. Is he or she involved in leadership within your youth group or small study group?

4. Has he or she ever been on a Missions trip, and if so, how did they perform?

A Look at Casa Del Pastor

HISTORY
Casa de Pastor means "House of the Shepherd". It was founded in 1995 and is an outreach of Calvary Chapel of Moreno Valley, California.

While ministering to Indians in the local work camps, Lisa Heit (the founder) saw the tremendous need for a home for women with children who are abandoned and abused. The conditions that those mothers and their children live under are very poor. These children are left to tend to the needs of their younger siblings. In desperation, many of these mothers give their children away to orphanages, or to anyone who will care for them. The heartache for both these mothers and children is tremendous.

GOAL
The goal of Casa del Pastor is to minister to the spiritual needs of these mothers and their children, while at the same time providing them with housing, food, clothing and job skill training. These mothers are expected to care for their children, work hard and save their earnings in order to purchase their own land and home. The amount of time each family stays varies according to their goals, ability, and situation.

GOD
Each morning we have 6 a.m. devotions. We also attend Calvary Chapel of Ensenada on Sunday, and there is a weekly bible club for the kids. These mothers come from difficult family problems, and most arrive ready to hear the gospel. We've seen many make a personal commitment to Jesus as well as their children.

EDUCATION

Each child five years and older is expected to attend school. Most of these children would not otherwise receive an education due to the needed finances for books and uniforms. The moms are encouraged to participate in night school programs to finish their schooling.

OTHER MINISTRIES
The Lord has blessed Casa del Pastor abundantly. Not only do we feed, clothe, and house some 35-45 mothers with children, but we also do a children's program, and have a nutritionally balanced feeding program in one of the local work camps (a housing area set up for migrant workers who work in the fields picking crops). Most of these children are very malnourished and show up eagerly before each feeding with plate and glass in hand.

FUTURE
The Lord has blessed us with four more lots nearby. It is our desire to build a bigger home that could house up to 50 moms and 150 kids. Please pray with us as we expand the vision.

FAMILY
Most mothers and their children have been through a lot. Abused, hungry, fearful, desperate, they become part of a family of mothers and children who have been through the same things. each learns to do their part as a family and to live peaceably with those around them. The changes in these mothers and children, even a week after they arrive, is remarkable.

Each family has their own room with a common bathroom and dining area. Meals are taken together. We do many family activities such as birthday parties, beach trips and park trips.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
First, and most important, is PRAYER. Pray for laborers, and for these women and children to be brought into a personal relationship with Jesus.

You can give your resources. Casa del Pastor exists because God has touched the hearts of individuals who give their finances monthly, and those who help with food, clothing, etc. All donations are tax deductible.
